The Singing Barrow was inspired by the archaeology and folklore of the South Dorset Ridgeway and based upon local myths that a series of burial mounds (the Bincombe Bumps) were inhabited by fairies and that you could hear them playing music if you put your ear to the ground at noon. 

The piece incorporates a sound element, composed by Mark Pilkington.
